Not just what's on screen
Text you would have to scroll for, text cut off inside a box, and text shortened with an ellipsis — it takes all of it.
On pages built with Web Components, the difference is real.
Modern sites put content inside Web Components (Shadow DOM), and the browser's plain way of pulling text out drops it. On an MDN reference page (56 shadow hosts), the plain approach returned 4,023 characters — this app returned 6,871, in 11 milliseconds.
On pages that don't use Shadow DOM there is barely any difference (a Wikipedia article measured 71,593 vs 71,247). The main value of this app is that you never drag selection handles, and that off-screen text, text clipped by a box, and text shortened with an ellipsis all come along. Measurements from 5 sites are published too. Measured in WKWebView on the WebKit in iOS 26.5, on 2026-08-28.
It reaches further than you'd expect
- Text you'd have to scroll for — both the page itself and boxes that scroll inside it
- Text that overflows its box, and the full text behind an ellipsis
- Lines hidden behind "Read more"
- What you've typed into text fields and text areas
- Tables — tab-separated, so they paste straight into a spreadsheet
- Indentation and spacing inside code blocks
- The contents of Web Components, which modern sites lean on
What it can't copy (told plainly)
- Text drawn inside images, or on a canvas
- Content embedded from another site — video players, social posts, maps
- Sections that are collapsed shut (open them in Safari first, then copy)
- Content that is only created once you scroll (scroll once, then copy)
Three steps to use it
- Turn on "Copy All Text" in Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions (on iOS 18: Settings → Safari → Extensions)
- Open a page in Safari, tap the page menu to the left of the URL, and choose "Copy All Text"
- Tap "Copy Whole Page"
iOS will not let an extension write to the clipboard without a tap, so opening it is never enough on its own. That's why nearly the whole panel is one large button.
It collects none of your data
- It has no networking code. Text it reads never leaves your device
- Nothing runs in the background. It reads the page only at the moment you open it
- It cannot see your browsing history
- No analytics are built in — no usage tracking, no crash reporting
Password fields and one-time-code fields are excluded. While "show password" is on, though, a revealed password can be picked up. The privacy policy explains this in full.
